Tower Hamlets Council is offering grants for 50% of project costs up to £5,000 for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) for energy reduction projects.
The Energy Improvement Grants Programme is part of the Council's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and energy consumption across the borough and supporting local businesses and people.
An organisation is eligible to receive a grant if they are an SME and meet all of the following criteria:
- Have no more than 250 employees
- Annual turnover under £25m
- Not more than 25 per cent owned by an entity which does not meet the criteria
- The premises where the measures will be installed is in Tower Hamlets
The funding will support projects that focus on energy reduction; this includes lighting and heating upgrades, insulation, more efficient equipment and any other changes that help reduce energy. The funding will also consider supporting renewable technologies and any project that can suitably demonstrate that it will achieve acceptable energy savings.
“I am delighted that this programme is providing funding to help the hundreds of small businesses throughout our borough. By making it easier for them to become more energy efficient, we are helping them to reduce their costs and their carbon emissions – making their businesses more competitive and making our borough cleaner, greener and more successful.” Mayor of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs
Businesses can apply with this application form and once completed, the form must be sent to THEnergy@towerhamlets.gov.uk along with a relevant copy of the quote(s) for the project.
